Panagiotis Kaitatzis

Musician – oud

Panagiotis Kaitatzis is a graduate of the Music High School of Mytilene and holds a Bachelor’s degree from the Department of Folk and Traditional Music of the Technological Educational Institute of Epirus, specializing in the oud. In 2022, he completed his postgraduate studies in Ethnomusicology and Cultural Anthropology at the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens. 
He studied Ottoman Classical and Byzantine music at the Centre for Eastern Music Studies (K.E.S.A.M.) under the supervision of Nikos Andrikos and attended seminars at the “Labyrinth” Musical Workshop with Yurdal Tokcan. His principal oud teachers include Alkis Paspatis, Kyriakos Tapakis, Thomas Konstantinou, and Haig Yazdjian.
His artistic activity includes participation in film and recording projects, as well as performances at concerts and festivals in Greece and abroad. He has collaborated with distinguished Greek artists and is a member of the Fausto Sierakowski Trio and the Gojam Trio, while also leading his own ensemble focused on original compositions.

He is a contributing author and research member of the anthology Sound Colors of Rhodope and is actively engaged in music education. Since 2013, he has been teaching oud, modal music, and music ensembles in music schools and cultural institutions throughout Greece. He currently serves as a permanent educator at the Music School of Komotini.
