Ilias Mantikos

Musician – Kanun

Ilias Mantikos is a musician specializing in the kanun and is actively involved in the Greek and international music scene. He is a graduate of the Department of Folk and Traditional Music of the Technological Educational Institute of Epirus and holds a Diploma in Byzantine Music (Philippos Nakas Conservatory, with honors).

 

He has studied alongside important teachers such as Pantelis Anastasopoulos, Apostolis Tsardakas, Goksel Baktagir, Ahmet Meter, and Halil Karaduman, and has attended specialized seminars on modality and performance in Eastern music.
As a performer, he has collaborated with leading Greek artists, including Eleni Vitali, Eleftheria Arvanitaki, Eleni Tsaligopoulou, Yiannis Kotsiras, Miltos Paschalidis, Dimitris Bassis, Lina Nikolakopoulou, Orpheas Peridis, Takim, Areti Ketime, and others. Since 2021, he has been a member of Giorgos Dalaras' orchestra.
At the same time, he has extensive teaching experience in conservatories and music schools, such as the "Simon Karas" Conservatory, the Music Schools of Pallini and Alimos, and currently teaches at the Athens Conservatory. He has participated as a speaker in the seminars "Musical Courtyards of Raches, Ikaria" and "Volax" (Volakas, Drama).
As a composer, he has released two solo albums featuring his own compositions: Smoking Table (2020) and Tetraktys (2024), in which he combines the modal logic of the East with contemporary musical forms.
